When you’re remodeling certain rooms, like a kitchen, you might get excited about all of the big things you can add on to it (a kitchen island, for example, or a second stove). But when it comes to your bathroom, you’ll pretty much have the same features you’ve always had—a shower, toilet, sink, and tub—but perhaps of a better quality.
You look forward to having that larger shower or that spa-like tub. But what can you do to really set your bathroom apart? As this is one of the smaller rooms of your home, one of the best things you can do is to focus on the smaller details. Take a look at some of the things you can do to make your bathroom stand out.
- Lighting – If you want your morning routine to be easier, lighting around the sides and top of a mirror helps you to get a clearer image with better highlighting than if you only had lighting overhead. It’s a good idea to have individual light switches for the overhead lights on the ceiling, the mirror lights, and any side lighting, so that you can control light levels to optimize your morning and nighttime routines.
- Faucet – The type of faucet you get can add a touch of elegance to your home. You can choose a classic chrome finish or go vintage with a bronzed look or antique-style handles. You can get a modern open-top faucet to set your sink apart, or a functional pull-out faucet.
- Tiles – Add a pop of color to your bathroom with some brightly colored tiles mixed in to a light blue or white background. Add a unique pattern or choose a classic black-and-white checkerboard look and theme the bathroom décor around this.
- Décor – The smallest touches—like a plant or a vintage mirror—can bring a room together!
